Who am I?
Big question. Right?
So often in the arts we are encouraged to rigidly self define. Which, in someways is useful and gives us clarity and in other ways is not.
Am I thinking too much about this?
Probably. But I think too much about everything and it’s costing me a lot of money to try and get a handle on that.
So… Who am I? let’s give it a go!
I am Emelia. I’m 28, I currently live in Oxfordshire with my dog, Martha and I have been working as a freelancer in the arts industry since 2021.
Creatively I am a director, a dramaturg, a theatre-maker, a sometimes writer, and a creative facilitator.
Outside of this, I’m a reader, a chef (in my dreams), a photographer, dog lover, Manchester United fan and stationary obsessive.
And I love it MOST when the two parts of me can intersect and enrich both parts of my life. I’m not really one for work, life separation (what’s the point of making your hobby your job if you can’t enjoy it?!) my work bleeds into my life ALL the time and I hope I’m able to take these parts to make me a more empathetic, joyful and curious person.
I’m going to be sharing thoughts and updates on this blog to keep myself accountable, consistent and engaged.
