Brainstorm

Brainstorm is a unique theatrical investigation into how teenagers’ brains work, and why they’re designed by evolution to be the way they are. Created by Ned Glasier and Emily Lim with Company Three (formerly Islington Community Theatre), in collaboration with neuroscientists Professor Sarah-Jayne Blakemore and Dr Kate Mills, the play is designed to be created and performed by a company of teenagers, drawing directly on their personal experiences.

Over twenty weeks Tulsi and I worked closely with our company of 9-16 year olds to create a piece which reflected them and their experiences of growing up. From arguments with parents, hormones and their hopes for the future, Brainstorm was such an incredible way to work with a company of young people to create an engaging and exciting piece of theatre.

The process was supported by The North Wall Arts Centre and their team of amazing technicians who threw everything and a discoball at this play to make sure it was good enough for our performers.
